Registered Social Worker/Neurofeedback Therapist

Welcome!

My name is Angela Wang and I am a clinical social worker, researcher, and neurofeedback practitioner at New Pathways. I have 3 years of experience working in the mental health field and 5+ years of research experience. I value using an integrative approach to therapy as I believe there is a deep connection between different facets of our life, whether it is our mental health, physical health, relationships, culture, and more.

My role is to provide a safe and compassionate space to reflect and process complex thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that create conflict in one’s life. My approach is warm and welcoming, working collaboratively with you to make sense of these challenges.

I am an ally to persons of colour, 2SLGBTQIA+ populations, persons with visible/invisible dis/abilities, and persons who have experienced systemic oppression. I actively practice from a trauma-informed and attachment-based lens to support you through fostering empowerment, empathy, and flexibility as you build capacity to turn into your Self.

“Wherever you find yourself, I will support you in working toward your counselling goals.”

My Background

As a therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy to make sense of your stories and to challenge patterns that no longer work for you. I have experience working with adolescent, young adult, and adult populations navigating through anxiety, depression, identity issues, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, perfectionism, and trauma. I am currently working under the supervision of the Clinic Director, Rachel Frankford as well as the Academic Advisor, Dr. Ellen Katz.

I hold a Master of Social Work and Honours Bachelor of Science specializing in Psychology from the University of Toronto. I am a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW).

As a researcher, I have had the opportunity to engage in clinical, experimental, and community-based research. This work has led me to develop a special interest in experiential learning, evidence-based practice, and emotional resilience, specifically how deepening the mind-body connection can improve our capacity for wellness.

Wherever you find yourself, I will support you in working toward your counselling goals.
